Eufaula Area Arts Council is hosting summer art classes for children, June 18-22.  Classes will be at Eufaula Elementary and Middle School at the same time the Beacon program is going on.  Students will need to be enrolled in Eufaula Summer Arts classes to attend. Students do not need to be from Eufaula to enroll.

Eufaula Summer Arts is similar to an art camp except the students go home at night.  During this week there will be four separate art classes per day.   Classes will start at 9:30 and be over at 2:30. These classes are for students 6 to 14 years and will be separated into four age related groups.  Eufaula Schools will have a lunch program available for the students during this time.

All of the teachers are Teaching Artists with the Oklahoma Arts Council or the Arkansas Arts Council.  The teachers are Zinse Agginie an African drummer, Joann McMillan, local professional puppeteer, Kristie Ming Tan, Chinese watercolorist and Rich Davis a graphic novelist.  Applications for this program are at Eufaula Main Street Studio at 105 South Main. This studio is open 9-4 Thursday and Friday and 12-4 on Saturday.  Applications will be available at more places in town in the coming weeks.

Students who enroll will need to attend all 5 days of classes.  On the last day, Friday, there will be performances and exhibits.  There will be 15 scholarships given away for students who have free or reduced meals at school.  Students who need a scholarship should fill out a separate scholarship form to receive classes at no cost.  Scholarships are available on a first come first serve basis.

If you need more information contact Glenna McBride or Andrea at 617-1689, 689-5362 or 617-3500 or drop by Eufaula Main Street Studio at 105 South Main .

Many of the classes are created with the assistance of the Oklahoma Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts.
